Curriculum Structure
At Key Stage 4, students follow a core curriculum of English Language, English Literature, Mathematics and Science (Combined or Triple), along with either History or Geography. Most students also study a Modern Foreign Language, enabling them to meet the aspirational expectations of the EBacc pathway. All students continue with Physical Education and participate in dedicated Personal Development days across the year.
Teaching at Oxted goes beyond exam specifications, with a strong emphasis on depth of understanding and smooth transition into Key Stage 5. Our options process is shaped around student choice, ensuring that courses reflect individual interests rather than fixed blocks.
Students with additional needs are supported to access the full range of GCSE subjects. In rare cases, a small number may receive additional English and Maths instead of a second option. We also provide tailored pathways for a very small group who may benefit from studying fewer GCSEs or alternative qualifications designed to build confidence, engagement and key life skills.
The school operates a two‑week timetable consisting of 50 lessons, each lasting 55 minutes.
