What will students study at Key Stage 4?
Year 10: Nutrition, food science and safety are taught through an expanding practical repertoire. Investigations explain functional properties and heat transfer; sensory analysis guides evaluation and iteration.
Year 11: NEA1 (scientific investigation) and NEA2 (menu planning, time plans, execution and evaluation) are completed, with exam revision on nutrition, provenance and sustainability integrated through timed practice.
What do assessments test?
- Knowledge & understanding of food, nutrition and provenance
- Science and investigation skills (NEA1) and planning, making and evaluating skills (NEA2)
What are the expectations of my child in this subject?
