What will students study at Key Stage 5?

Year 12: Students study English legal system and sources, criminal law elements and law‑making, developing precise legal reasoning and case citation.

Year 13: Students progress to tort/contract (per option) and evaluative essays on justice, fault and law reform with scenario application.

What do assessments test?

  • AO1: Legal knowledge and understanding
  • AO2: Apply legal principles to scenarios
  • AO3: Analyse/evaluate legal rules and arguments

What are the expectations of my child in this subject?

Attend all lessons, meet deadlines, keep high‑quality notes, and use independent study effectively (at least the Sixth Form expectation per subject). Build habits of spaced retrieval, interleaved practice and regular past‑paper work.
