Homework

Students will follow a structured homework timetable.

Homework in Year 7 and Year 8 has the purpose of building routines and retrieval skills. It helps students develop organisation and independent working, with a focus on retrieval practice to strengthen memory and understanding.

All homework tasks follow our 4 Rs model: Reinforce, Reading, Rewarding, and Revision.

Year 7 Homework

Key features:

  • Homework is set and submitted on Class Charts
  • Weekly homework in core subjects
  • Use of online platforms: Sparx Maths, Sparx Reader, Educake
  • Short, focused tasks (20 minutes maximum)
  • Introduction to online learning routines
  • Termly rewards assigned for outstanding homework effort

Support provided:

  • Tutor guidance
  • Homework clubs and subject support clubs
  • Online guidance videos on how to use Class Charts

 

Year 8 Homework

Key features: 

  • Homework is set and submitted on Class Charts
  • Weekly homework across subjects
  • Ongoing use of Sparx Maths, Sparx Reader, and Educake
  • Tasks designed to reinforce learning and develop study routines
  • Fortnightly homework in History, Geography, and MFL
  • Termly rewards assigned for outstanding homework effort

Year 9 Homework

Homework in Year 9 prepares students for Key Stage 4 by encouraging independence and deepening subject knowledge. Its purpose is to develop retrieval skills and revision habits, while strengthening organisation and independent learning.

Year 10 Homework
