Religious Education
Intent
It is our intent for the Religious Education element of our school curriculum to engage, inspire, challenge and encourage pupils.
It equips them with the knowledge and skills to answer challenging questions, explore different religious beliefs, values and traditions and develop a more rigorous understanding of the numerous religious traditions, beliefs and practices that are followed in our multicultural society. We want them to know how Religious Education promotes discernment and enables pupils to combat prejudice, preparing them for adult life, employment, and life-long learning.
The GCSE provides a broad understanding of the beliefs and practices of the faiths studied, as well as promoting religious literacy and the contemplation of ultimate questions.
Students are able to reflect on and develop their own values, beliefs, and attitudes considering what they have learnt. There are a range of relevant and contemporary themes to study that promote awareness of modern-world issues and engagement.
Students of all abilities will be challenged and inspired, whilst developing valuable skills sought after by higher education and employers.
