Transition 2026

We are delighted to be offering your child a place at Oxted School and welcoming you and your child/children to our community!

At Oxted School, we know that the experiences our students have, both in and out of the classroom, allow them to access a world of opportunity. We have always been committed to combining a consistent, high-quality learning experience with a vast array of enrichment activities on offer to all Oxted School students, which we believe sets us apart from other schools.

We appreciate that transferring to secondary school is an exciting but daunting time for families. Please be reassured that our staff have great expertise in the transition from primary to secondary school.

At Oxted we maximise the benefits of being a large school, while working hard to create a ‘small school’ ethos in which all students are known as individuals. We are very proud of our transition process; we believe it is essential to help our students to settle in well and feel a sense of belonging.  Over the coming months we will:

  • Meet with Year 6 teachers
  • Respond to queries; no question is too small. Please email Mrs Mullen on  admissions@oxted.thpt.org.uk who will be able to answer your question or direct you to the right person
  • Meet with all our Year 6 students to answer any questions they may have
  • Use information from primary schools and parents/carers to construct our Tutor Groups
  • Offer additional transition support for those who require it

To help support you and your child in their transition to Oxted School we have arranged two events in the summer term:

Tuesday 30 June 2026 – Student Transition Day

This transition day is an excellent opportunity for your child to begin to feel like a student at our school as they enjoy taster lessons, meet their tutor/key staff, have a chance to make new friends and are given some of the essential information they will need to know for September.

Tuesday 30 June 2026 – Parents’ Information Evening (parents/carers only)

This evening will give parents and carers the opportunity to meet key members of staff and receive important information about our school, including how you can support your child throughout their transition from primary to secondary school.
