16-19 Study Programme

Students who attend Oxted School Sixth Form must be enrolled on to a full-time 16-19 study programme which combines qualifications with other non-qualification activities. Only students who are enrolled onto full-time study programmes will be funded by the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA).

Full time study programmes are expected to have a minimum of 540 planned hours for each academic year.  Oxted School Sixth Form students are expected to follow a minimum of three A-levels or equivalent.  BTEC Extended National Certificates are equivalent to one A-level and a BTEC National Diploma is equivalent to two A-levels. English and Maths will form part of the study programme only in the exceptional case of a student who has not achieved a GCSE grade 4 in these subjects.

The other non-qualification activities will complement the subjects studied and support the student to progress to further education, higher education or to employment. One of the most important of these activities will be the work experience week in July of each year.

During each year a variety of activities are arranged to develop student’s character, broader skills, attitudes, and confidence and to support progression. These activities are mainly delivered through assemblies and Tutor time, but there are other events organised including mentoring, Duke of Edinburgh Awards, enrichment activities and visits.
