Vision & Values

Oxted School will excel at ‘Bringing out the Best’ in students and staff. We aim to bring out the best in students of all abilities to increase their life chances for their future success and fulfilment.
We aim to:
- Develop self-esteem in all students.
- Challenge all students to achieve their best.
- Encourage positive behaviour, individual responsibility, and ambition.
- Provide a happy, safe, caring, and inclusive environment that values each individual and promotes respect and consideration for others.
- Prepare students to become confident and responsible citizens.
- Provide a broad and balanced curriculum to meet the needs of all students including their personal, social and spiritual development.
Our four values underpin all aspects of school life: Respect, Responsibility, Resilience and Reflection.
Our Values
We know that if students are respectful, not only to staff but also to themselves, they will create an environment to thrive. By being responsible for their learning, students are empowered to bring out the best in themselves and develop a positive growth mindset. Resilience is an essential ingredient in becoming a successful learner – we want our students to keep trying even when things are hard. Finally, by being reflective, students can learn from their mistakes and improve.
Respect
- Respect your own and others’ right to learn and thrive at Oxted School.
- Respect all members of our school community.
- Respect the buildings and resources provided for you.
Responsibility
- Take responsibility for your learning, both at school and at home.
- Take responsibility for improving your work and getting better every day.
- Take responsibility for improving our school community.
- Ask questions and ask for help when you need it.
Resilience
- Try your best, every lesson, every day.
- Keep trying even when things are hard.
- Focus on what you want to achieve.
- Use problem-solving skills to overcome challenges.
- Be resilient when things go wrong; try again until you succeed
Reflection
- Reflect on your learning and look for areas to improve.
- Reflect on and share your successes.
- Reflect on and learn from your failures.
- Reflect on how you contribute to our school community.
‘Leaders and staff have very high expectations and aspirations for all pupils’.
