Year 7 Feedback

My first term at Oxted School has been amazing.  All the teachers are super nice and the facilities are great.  At first I was worried about finding my way to my lessons, but in the first two weeks, we were taken to lessons which helped us to get to know the school.  Managing homework may seem difficult, but with Class Charts and Teams you can see when it is due and exactly what you need to do.  At Oxted, there is a club for everyone!  I have joined loads, such as: netball, hockey and small animal club.  However, it is not just those but many more.  Boxing, vocal harmony etc.  What I am enjoying most is all the new opportunities and experience.  I have loved my Oxted journey so far and I can’t wait to see what it brings in the future.

The worry I had when I started was knowing where the lessons are and what block.  I overcame that by bringing my timetable with and in the first two weeks when you get shown around to take in the directions.  I enjoy PE and Science because the PE is a lot more fun.  In Science most of the lessons involve doing something active, if that is looking at particles or using a bunson burner.  I manage my homework by getting it done on the day it comes and to not let it stack up.  I enjoy doing football after school and boxing.

My first term at Oxted has been amazing.  At first I was scared about being late to my classes, but the school gets smaller everyday.  I stay organised by doing all my homework the day I get it and I put all my books in my bag the second I get home,  I love how much more confident I have got since joining Oxted.  So far, I have joined a few clubs, such as cheerleading, roller skating, badminton, and trampolining and I have enjoyed them so much.

When I started at Oxted I was really worried because it was a massive school and it has lots of homework.  You learn the school really quickly and  I have found that the best way to handle homework, is to do them in order, because if you do that you won’t forget any or miss one and get a detention.  There are lots of clubs at Oxted at lunch and after school.  I do roller skating after school and it is really good.  My favourite this about Oxted is the teachers because they are super nice and kind; and the canteen cheese pizza!

I have really enjoyed my time at Oxted School so far.  I particularly like all the individual subjects and the fact that the teacher specialises in that subject.  It feels like we are learning so much in such a short amount of time.  I have also really liked all the different clubs they have offered.  I have joined the hockey club where you always feel welcome and netball where there are loads of great opportunities, such as tournaments and matches against other schools, and pet club, where you can try something new like holding a snake or feeding a hamster.  A worry I had to overcome was getting to my lessons on time.  To overcome this, I stay with my classmates between lessons and at break I start making my way to my next lesson a few minutes before the bell goes.  I manage my homework by doing it on the night it’s set and making a timetable for it.  Doing it early allows time to contact your teacher if you have any questions before the due date.  I have felt a lot mor independent being at secondary school and am enjoying all the new opportunities.

My first term at Oxted has been great because I have made loads of friends and I know where all of my classes are.  One achievement at Oxted School so far is getting into the football team, which I was worried about before I went to Oxted.  I am now more confident and happy about where I need to be, who my teachers are, and settling in to day to day life at school.  I have adapted well to getting to every class on time.  Most evenings I complete at least one homework task and I have made sure all homework tasks are completed on time.  One part I have enjoyed the most is making new friendships, because this was the one thing I was nervous for.

Staff Feedback

Having started at Oxted in September I have been made very welcome by all the staff and students.  The network of support provided is superb with warm welcomes and friendly faces.   The students are a delight to teach and every lesson is an enjoyable experience

Friendly and welcoming staff and students have helped ease what can be a difficult transition. Happy to part of the school!

Since joining Oxted School, I have settled in very positively and feel increasingly confident in my role as a teacher. The support from my department has been invaluable, they have been welcoming, collaborative, and always willing to offer guidance when needed. This strong sense of teamwork has helped me quickly feel part of the school community and has made my transition into the role both smooth and rewarding. I am happy to be a part of #teamOxted and I am looking forward to continuing to develop within my career as a Teacher of History.

Since joining Oxted in September, my experience has been overwhelmingly positive. From the very beginning, I received great support that helped me settle in quickly and feel part of the school community. I’m especially thankful to my Head of Department, Abi, for her constant support, guidance, and encouragement, which have made my transition into the English Department both smooth and rewarding. The strong sense of teamwork, focus on staff wellbeing, and welcoming atmosphere make me genuinely pleased to be part of #teamOxted.

The teachers have been amazing and keep it interesting and fun most of the time.

Oxted School is a very large school, but I am always impressed at how they manage the Year and Tutor groups into smaller, more manageable groups.

Thank you to all of you, you are amazing! You gave the encouragement to our son which is what he needs, this will enable him to go on and achieve what he needs to.

My child is just finishing his A-Levels. I wish to thank everyone who has helped him to get this far.
I would never have dreamed that my son would be off to university.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the members of Oxted School staff for all your hard work and commitment to all your students.

I am very proud that my son attends Oxted School.

My daughter is really loving Oxted School, I can’t remember enjoying school quite so much myself!. I think the gymnastics, cheerleading and netball clubs might have something to do with it,
along with the languages!

We are very impressed with Oxted’s home-school communication system,
which is in place to help us track our daughter’s learning.
