Governor Information Evening

Oxted School will have a number of vacancies for the Local Governing Body (LGB) over the next few months, both parent-elected and by appointment.

We are therefore holding an open evening at the school on Wednesday 2 May 2018 from 6.30pm to 7.30pm in the Meeting Room to allow anyone who is interested (including non-parents) to find out more about what it means to be a Local Governor within our Multi-Academy Trust.

Our LGB plays a key role in ensuring that the School delivers a high quality education to all our students.  The key responsibilities of the LGB, working in conjunction with the Trustees of the Howard Partnership Trust, can be summarised as:

  • Ensuring, in conjunction with the School Leadership Team, a clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction of the School
  • Holding the School to account - monitoring and providing appropriate challenge on School performance in particular:

    • effectiveness of leadership and management
    • quality of teaching, learning and assessment
    • personal development, behaviour and welfare
    • outcomes for students
    • The School achieves good value for money and so can deliver the School Improvement Priorities

Members of the LGB are volunteers and each individual brings their own skills and experience.  Among the most valued attributes are a keen interest in education, commitment to improving educational outcomes for young people and a willingness to work as part of a team.

If you would like to hear more, we would be pleased to welcome you on Wednesday 2 May.  Please contact Yvonne Everall ( if you would like to attend.
