Oxted School Defibrillator Fund

I have recently completed both the Brighton Marathon and Belfast Marathon and have raised sufficient funding for two defibrillators for the School.

I enjoy running, which is just as well, and did not initially plan on running 2 marathons 3 weeks apart.  Brighton Marathon had been entered for a long time, but I thought I would have to defer due to illness in February.  Training was not going to plan, and I entered Belfast as a substitute.  However, training picked up and I decided to try to complete both.  Such Fun!!

The conditions for Brighton on 12 April were pretty good, a little windy but that helped to keep the runners cool.  I managed to get round in 4hrs 23mins 11 seconds, and I felt pretty good afterwards.

I wasn’t sure how much running to do between the marathons, never having done 2 marathons in close succession.  So I kept the mileage low and hoped for the best.  Belfast loomed with hills and more hills!  Again, I was extremely lucky with the weather, it was great.  The support was fantastic and I managed to see a couple of relatives on route.  I finished in 4hrs 27mins 19seconds and I felt absolutely exhausted, but elated.

The defibrillators should be here soon and staff will receive training for them. Let’s just hope they are never needed.
