Surrey and Berkshire Schools Science Challenge

On Thursday 26 March two teams of Year 9 students travelled to the University of Reading to compete in the finals of the Surrey and Berkshire Schools Science Challenge, having qualified in the regional rounds earlier in the term.

In a ‘University Challenge’ style quiz our two teams of four battled against teams from other schools across the two counties, who had also qualified by winning their regional heats.

Oxted School team - Ben Gibbs, James wright, Hannah Haywood and Freya Smith finished joint 3rd and our team of Jake Hobson, Nathaniel Bateman, Eleanor Evans and Megan Summerton finished in first place.

Congratulations to both teams who were a credit to themselves and the School and answered some really difficult questions. The winning team were rewarded with prizes and the promise of a visit to the Mars factory to see the Chemistry of chocolate in action.
