The Apprentice Star Visits Oxted School

Solomon Akhtar, ex-student and recent semi-finalist in BBC programme The Apprentice, came to Oxted School on Monday 2 March to talk to students in Year 10, Year 11, Year 12 and Year 13 who are currently studying Business Studies and Economics.

Solomon spoke about his career in business and his experience on The Apprentice. He explained how he started by selling sweets on his journey to school every day when he was aged 14, to starting up a number of companies that are technology based. He described how each one-hour programme of The Apprentice takes four days to film and explained what it is like to live for three months with the other contestants.

He also gave a presentation to Year 11 in an assembly where he told them about what he has learnt from his time in business and his experience on The Apprentice. The recurring theme was the importance of seizing every opportunity and not to be put off every time you face a set back. He emphasised the need for hard work and how significant it was to try and be the best that you can be to make yourself stand out from the crowd.

I would like to thank Solomon for giving up his time to come and speak to our students who I am sure will have both enjoyed and learnt a great deal from his presentations.
