Press Statement from the Governors of Oxted School

Governors at Oxted School have now closed the representation period on their plans for Foundation Status.

Chair of Governors, Brian Taylor, confirmed that extensive engagement has taken place, during a period that was extended to 11th February, to allow greater consultation.  Governors have held meetings with current parents, with staff, students, and community groups.  A confidential and anonymous staff survey has been undertaken and assemblies held to encourage debate and discussion amongst students.  Responses have been sent on an individual basis to over 200 people, with information and FAQs being regularly updated onto the school website.  Mr Taylor continued ‘A wide variety of views have been received and Governors would like to thank everyone who participated for their contributions’.

Jo Dennis, elected Parent Governor at Oxted School, confirmed: ‘It is reassuring to have so much support for the School.  We have been contacted by many people who have engaged with the wider debate.  We are committed to making sure we get this right for the benefit of the education of Oxted School’s students now and in the future.  We will consider carefully all the feedback received, and we will continue to work with the whole school community as we move forward’.

Oxted School Governors value the feedback received from the community, and are very grateful to everyone for their contributions to the process.  They will now be considering all factors in accordance with statutory guidance from the DfE on the decision-making process, and will keep the community informed of progress.
