Oxted School Awarded Fairtrade School Status

Oxted School is delighted to announce that it has been awarded Fairtrade School Status for the coming year. Staff and students’ have been working hard over the last two years to raise awareness of Fairtrade issues at the school and in the local community.

To gain Fairtrade School Status, Oxted School have held various activities and events to promote Fairtrade. Students have been encouraged to learn about the topic of Fairtrade, there have been numerous cake sales selling cakes made with Fairtrade products, and there are regular sales of Fairtrade Dubble chocolate bars by Oxted School’s Fairtrade student group.

Malawian Sugar Farmer, Henry Matende also visited the school in March 2013 to talk to students about his life as a Fairtrade farmer, and the importance of buying Fairtrade products.
